For many generations water has been on a par with well-being for the body and for the soul. Nothing soothes the soul more than the sound of roaring waves. Nothing relaxes the body more than sliding down into a warm bath. Water is comforting - for people of all ages.

Brothers Lars and Henrik Brunsø were always convinced that water is the principal element for a balanced and harmonious life. With this in mind they established Akva Water-beds ApS back in 1981. Their dream was to develop environment-friendly waterbeds of high quality.

Their dream has become reality: Waterbeds from Akva are known and loved by enthusiasts everywhere in Europe. As much as 96 per cent of Danish waterbeds are exported to 15 European countries.

Akva Waterbeds is Scandinavia's largest manufacturer of waterbeds. A position the company has achieved by consistently investing in knowledge, quality and dependability in all areas.

This is why Akva has its own development department and exercises total technological control throughout production - development, design, production and sales. Everything takes place under the same roof to guarantee unity.

Care for the environment
A good environment is about care and responsibility with regard to the individual and with regard to our own planet. Human values such as freedom, solidarity and confidence apply both to the workplace and to colleagues.

In 2001 Akva Waterbeds was awarded the title of Eastern Jutland's best workplace - a competition which the staff had entered the company for.

As the first waterbed manufacturer in Europe, Akva holds the ISO 14001 environment certificate. For example, water mattresses are made of environment-friendly vinyl without phthalates.

Quality guaranteed
Since 1981, Akva Waterbeds has refined and improved their water mattresses - the manufacture of high quality mattresses is founded on expertise combined with advanced technology.

Tests have shown that Akva's water mattresses with vinyl without phthalates, are more stable and durable than earlier water mattresses with vinyl containing phthalates. The life-time of water mattresses is increased in this way - along with care for the environment.

Akva gives five years' guarantee on the welded seams and heating systems of all water mattresses. With baby and junior mattresses the guarantee is only two years.

ISO 14001
Akva Waterbeds was the world's first manufacturer of waterbeds with the coveted international ISO 14001 environmental certification. This is your guarantee that Akva Waterbeds' products are made with the greatest possible care for the environment.

Oeko-Tex
Akva Waterbeds ApS is the only waterbed-manufacturer which has an Oeko-Tex certificate for vinyl. Akva has also an Oeko-Tex certificate for covers and water pillows.

The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is the world's leading eco label for textiles. Products carrying this label have been tested and certificated by internationally renowned textile institutes.
